Washington, D.C. – May 13, 2025 – Today, the Center for Sportfishing Policy (CSP) honored Eric Fetchko, President of Dometic Marine, with the 2025 Eddie Smith Manufacturer of the Year Award—CSP’s highest recognition for excellence in marine innovation and conservation leadership. The award celebrates Fetchko’s extraordinary contributions to marine innovation and manufacturing paired with his commitment to sound conservation of marine resources.

CSP members are gathered in Washington, D.C. this week for their annual “Center Focus on Washington” fly-in, which brings together leaders in recreational fishing and boating for high-level meetings with Members of Congress and Administration officials.

During the American Boating Congress Industry lunch, hosted by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), CSP President Jeff Angers announced Fetchko as this year’s award recipient, recognizing his transformational career in marine engineering and product innovation.

“For nearly four decades, Eric Fetchko has been helping shape the way people experience life on the water—through precision, creativity and a vision for what’s possible,” said Angers. “His leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence have not only advanced marine technology but have also strengthened our entire industry.”

Fetchko began his career in 1986 as a junior engineer at Teleflex Marine, continuing through transitions to SeaStar Solutions, Dometic Marine and now Dometic Outdoor. Over the years, he has led the development of cutting-edge integrated systems, earning numerous NMMA Innovation Awards and holding 24 U.S. patents. Last year, Boating Industry named him Mover & Shaker of the Year, recognizing his far-reaching impact.

Beyond engineering achievements, Fetchko has invested in mentoring the next generation of marine professionals and has served on the boards of NMMA Canada and the American Boat & Yacht Council, demonstrating a deep commitment to product safety, performance standards and the broader boating community.

The Eddie Smith Manufacturer of the Year Award, named for the legendary chairman and CEO of Grady-White Boats, was established by CSP to recognize manufacturers who exemplify the spirit of conservation and leadership. Past recipients include industry icons such as Bill Shedd, Johnny Morris, Scott Deal, Thom Dammrich, Joan Maxwell, Dave Pfeiffer, Tommy Hancock and Pat Healey.

The Center for Sportfishing Policy is the nation’s leading advocate for saltwater recreational anglers. CSP organizes, focuses and engages stakeholders to shape federal marine fisheries management policies. Learn more at www.SportfishingPolicy.com.
